SUMMARY:National Policy Dialogue on Strengthening Climate Adaptation Governance in Tanzania
DESCRIPTION:The dialogue aims to provide a high-level platform for government policy and decision-makers to review the findings of the ALBATROSS Multi-Level Policy Analysis and identify practical policy actions that can strengthen climate adaptation governance and policy coherence in Tanzania. \nThe event will also explore opportunities for future collaboration between the Government of Tanzania and ALBATROSS partners\, including potential technical cooperation under a prospective ALBATROSS Phase II. \nKey Expected Outputs from the National Policy Dialogue\n\nEnhanced policy awareness by increasing policymakers’ understanding of key findings\, recommendations\, and available ALBATROSS knowledge products such as Guidelines for Adaptation Policy Strategies on climate-induced migration.\nRecognition of the importance of mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions\, climate services\, gender-responsive strategies\, Indigenous and Local Knowledge\, and improved institutional coordination.\nDraft insight on strategic areas for collaboration between government of Tanzania and ALBATROSS partners under a potential Phase II project. (e.g climate service EU-AF collaboration\, support 2-3 priority policy review\, CN etc.).\n\nProposed Next Steps\n\nEvidence-informed climate frameworks by ensuring ALBATROSS outcomes are systematically integrated into national climate planning and adaptation priorities. e.g contribute to ongoing national efforts to operationalise the National Adaptation Plan 2025\nInstitutional coordination through stronger collaboration among government agencies\, research organisations\, civil society\, and development partners to accelerate climate-resilient development.\nFuture cooperation by informing technical collaboration with ALBATROSS partners\, including climate centres\, and shaping potential cooperation under a prospective second phase of the project.\n\nProposed programme\nThe dialogue will be conducted as a half-day high-level policy consultation comprising: \n\nOpening Session (Minister\, E.U\, UNESCO\, ARDHI etc)\nOverview of the ALBATROSS Project (ARDHI\, Oxfam SA\,)\nPresentation of Tanzania policy analysis key findings -D6.1\, D6.3 (UNESCO)\nPlenary discussion and stakeholder reflections\nClosing remarks and way forward\n\nExpected Follow-up\nThe dialogue will contribute to: \n\nEvidence-informed climate frameworks by ensuring ALBATROSS outcomes are systematically integrated into national climate planning and adaptation priorities.\nInstitutional coordination through stronger collaboration among government agencies\, research organizations\, civil society\, and development actors to accelerate climate-resilient development.\nFuture cooperation by informing technical collaboration with ALBATROSS partners\, including climate centres\, and shaping potential cooperation under a prospective second phase of the project.
