SUMMARY:Co-design of climate early warning services for the Kigamboni area\, Tanzania
DESCRIPTION:On 2-3 April 2025\, a workshop will be held in the Kigamboni Hub with local communities\, research organizations\, and policy actors. The main objective is to identify and start co-creating climate\, weather and early-warning services and tools which will be accessible and tailored to the needs of the territory\, thus overcoming technical and non-technical barriers to the usability of climate/weather data and information.    \nIn this meeting\, Tanzania Meteorology Authority (TMA) will be the key stakeholder with whom the ALBATROSS partners participating in the meeting\, namely Ardhi University\, UNIBO\, KAJO and FMI\, will work hand in hand. The aim is to collect the impacts of some severe weather phenomena and define a work plan for their scientific analysis.

SUMMARY:Co-development of Climate Services for the Umzimvubu Catchment\, South Africa.
DESCRIPTION:On 10 April 2025\, a participatory online workshop will be held to bring together project partners to engage and co-develop and refine existing climate service (CS) tools with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) and ALBATROSS members. \nThe primary goal of the workshop is to explore a user-centered\, impact-based forecasting system that integrates socio-economic and geophysical data to support climate adaptation in the UZ Hub with project partners. \nThe workshop will facilitate technical discussions between the ALBATROSS and SAWS teams\, focusing on: \n1. Co-development of impact-based seasonal predictions for the agriculture sector\n2. Integration and application of Copernicus data for adaptation planning with Nature-based Solutions (NBS)\n3. Building on and the development of existing CS tools for early warning systems \nThe workshop participants will focus on the in-depth technical discussions on the development of impact-based forecasting systems and the enhancement of early warning systems for floods\, droughts and fires. We will also aim to establish a working strategy between ALBATROSS and SAWS.
