Mangrove clean-up day in Mjimwema, Tanzania

In February, Albatross partners from Tanzania participated in the Mangrove Clean-up Day in Mjimwena, a Kigamboni Hub site.
The mangrove clean-up day brought together various stakeholders and highlighted the importance of conserving these vital coastal forests.
Mangroves are one of the planet’s most productive ecosystems and play a crucial role in climate resilience. They help communities adapt to climate change by protecting coastlines, filtering pollutants, and storing carbon. However, these ecosystems face significant threats from pollution and deforestation. Initiatives such as the Mjimwema clean-up are helping to protect mangroves and secure their benefits for people and nature.
