1st Research School
This research school, organised within the framework of the ALBATROSS project, offered first-hand insights into the latest methodologies, modelling tools and climate services that support adaptation planning.
Top-level scientists and experts from the ALBATROSS partnership led plenary talks and group work. A visit to one of the hubs, the fundamental units on which the project actions are based and which integrate indigenous communities with local research and policy organisations, was also included in the programme.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the role of NBS in climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
- Familiarise with modelling and monitoring methodologies to assess the efficacy of NBS.
- Understand how to use data from climate services to support adaptation planning and risk reduction with NBS in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Become familiar with co-creation of NbS and CS towards achievement of socio-economic and environmental imperatives of climate change.
Target audience:
Post-graduate students.
Modality:
16-18 hours of frontal teaching, one day of a field trip and two days of group work guided by tutors.
Limited to 25 students. A selection process will be conducted for the applicants, based on their CV and research interest.
