Stakeholder forum in the Tamatave Hub as the culmination of the capacity-building activities carried out
On 12-13 November 2025, a stakeholder forum was organised in the Tamatave Hub (Madagascar), in which different types of stakeholders and interested community members met to share knowledge and good practices across the conservation, production and research sectors.
This event was held as the culmination of a succession of previous activities in the hub, such as interviews (more than 200 were conducted) and participatory workshops on mapping, storytelling, and crop calendar. These activities represent the first steps for the accomplishment of the broader objectives of ALBATROSS of capacity building, awareness raising and engagement of both households and private sector companies.
The first day of the stakeholder forum brought together community members to work on a timeline that combined their collective memory of extreme climatic events over the past 60 years, and their impacts on practices, livelihoods and daily life. The second day, under task 7.8, gathered 20 different actors (NGOs, institutions, research organisations and private actors). During the workshop, they discussed the challenges affecting the activities they are implementing.
The forum discussion was guided by the hub coordinator, Arthur Bostvironnois (Bôndy) and Stefania Zuccato and Selene Tondini, both researchers from UNIBO, who are currently undertaking a research stay in Madagascar as part of their research in stakeholder engagement. Stefania has been in Tamatave for the last three months, training hub members in the implementation of participatory methodologies.
