Prof Christopher Gordon, member of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of IPBES
The ALBATROSS partner Prof Christopher Gordon, from the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies, University of Ghana, has been elected for a second term as a member of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
In this position, the functions he has to carry out include providing advice on scientific and technical aspects as well as on technical and/or scientific communication matters; managing IPBES’ peer-review process to ensure the highest levels of scientific quality, independence and credibility; and exploring ways and means to bring different knowledge systems, including indigenous knowledge systems, into the science-policy interface.
Prof Gordon expresses his gratitude to this election: “It is a privilege and an honour for me to be re-nominated and elected to serve on the MEP for a second term. My fellow MEP members represent some of the leading experts in the fields of biodiversity, nexus thinking, as well as indigenous and local knowledge from all over the world. The work in MEP is always challenging, requiring attention to detail and unbiased judgements. I have found that this has made me a more complete researcher and scientist.
Congratulations, Prof!
