ALBATROSS’ contribution highlighted in the Second Africa–Europe CoRE Conference
On 15 June 2026, the ALBATROSS coordinators, Laura Leo and Silvana di Sabatino, together with the project partner Paolo Ruggieri, all from the University of Bologna, participated in the Second Africa–Europe CoRE Conference, hosted by the University of Glasgow. Silvana presented the progress and achievements made by the cluster of Research Excellence on Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, which is implemented by the University of Bologna and the University of Stellenbosch.
The CoRE initiatives are led by ARUA, the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), and the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities (The Guild). This Africa–Europe CoRE Conference brings together university leaders, distinguished researchers, and key stakeholders from across Africa and Europe for plenary sessions, strategic meetings and workshops.
The participation of the ALBATROSS representatives was part of one of the priority areas that define the EU-AU Innovation Agenda, namely the one devoted to Green Transition, and within this, in the CoRE devoted to Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation. In her presentation, Silvana emphasised the key role placed by ALBATROSS within the Cluster in establishing new opportunities for joint training and capacity-building activities and for pushing nature-based solutions (NBS) in the policy agenda. At the same time, she remarked the key role that the cluster plays in upscaling the results achieved in ALBATROSS.
